    Dr. Ron Sutherland, Professor Emeritus in Chemistry, has just returned from Sweden where he participated in a review of that country's chemical and biological weapons program and in the preparation of a policy paper. On the same trip, he visited Bratislava, where he addressed a NATO advanced research workshop.

    A collection of 40 devotions that begin with an excerpt from the Bible, include a short meditation on everyday matters, and conclude with a prayer - all written by Mary Jane Hanson, Office Co-ordinator in the Dept. of Music - have been published in a book entitled Glimpses of God. A prolific writer, Hanson has had 200 articles published on the Presbyterian Church of Canada's Daily website, a devotional source and prayer line.
    Joan Krohn, a Dancer and Instructor in the College of Kinesiology, will be presented Nov. 2 with an Award of Achievement during the 10th annual production of Cameco Dare to Dance. The award - a custom-made piece of glass wheat art by Jackie Berting - recognizes Krohn's ongoing commitment to the advancement of dance in Saskatchewan.

    Maaka
    Roger Maaka, Head of the Maori Studies Dept. at the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand, has accepted the appointment of Head of the U of S Dept. of Native Studies beginning Jan. 1, 2003. Maaka's current work centres on Maori political and social development.

    Two recent appointments have been announced in University Advancement: Krystal Frerotte, a graduate of the Saskatoon Business College, has begun work as a clerk-steno in Data Services; and Michelle Tarasoff, former Confidential Secretary with the U of S Students' Union, has moved into the position of Alumni Officer.

    Doug Tomilson has joined the Division of Media & Technology as Assistant Director. Tomilson comes to the U of S from the Technical University of B.C. One of his first accomplishments here was to ensure the Image Bank is available free-of-charge on campus. Other appointments within the division include that of Gary Crippen, who spent 30 years with the CBC, to the post of Manager of SCN Broadcast Operations, and Dan Mittelholtz from the College of Agriculture, to the position of Multimedia Developer.
