'We are the world' at the U of S

Diefenbaker Canada Centre Director Bruce Shepard stands beside a display case exhibiting some of the 300 artifacts from around the world assembled from international students at the University of Saskatchewan for the Feb. 2-March 30 show 'We Are the World'. The colorful mementoes range from a bottle of Bahamas beach sand and intricate African carvings, to ornate dolls and full-scale cultural costumes. Centre Technician Greg Burke prepared the displays and the show was arranged with help from U of S International Student Advisor Kurt Tischler and the international student associations representing U of S students from Africa, Nigeria, China, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Thailand. The U of S has nearly 1,000 international students from about 80 countries. The show's grand opening will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m., Sun., Feb. 9 at the Centre. The start of the show coincided with International Week, held from Feb. 2-8 on campus.
