Board of Governors ratifies move of 85 Medicine faculty to 'in-scope' status

Final approval has been given to an agreement between the University and the Faculty Association that sees 85 College of Medicine faculty members become 'in-scope'.

Jan. 31 the Board of Governors ratified the agreement that outlines the terms and conditions of employment for the faculty whose positions were previously considered out-of-scope because they were funded from sources outside the U of S operating budget. Those sources include both the Department of Health and research grants. The agreement, which was OK'd by the Faculty Association Jan. 16, gives the 85 new association members the same wages and benefits as other faculty as well as the designation 'continuing status' rather than 'without term' or 'limited term'.

The agreement was necessitated by a Labour Relations Board of Saskatchewan ruling handed down July 11, 2001. It now becomes a new Article 35 in the faculty collective agreement.
