    Dr. David Keegan

    The College of Medicine and Saskatoon Health Region have announced two single headships. Dr. David Keegan of the Department of Psychiatry will carry out duties as acting head of the department for both the college and the region until June 30, 2004. The headship of the Department of Medicine has been awarded to Dr. Tom Wilson, a Professor in Pharmacology and Associate Member in Dentistry. His appointment is a five-year term.

    Tess Laidlaw has recently joined the staff at the Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization (VIDO) as Communications Officer. Laidlaw is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario in London with a Masters of Journalism.

    Professor Emeritus of Chemistry Ron Sutherland has been reappointed to a second five-year term on the Board of Governors of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute. He has also been appointed to the research advisory board of the Chemical and Biological Arms Control Institute in Washington, D.C.

    In the Department of Psychology, Head and Professor Linda McMullen along with Steven Wormith, Chair of Forensic Psychology, have both been elected Fellows of the Canadian Psychological Association. Also in Psychology, Professor Emeritus Ron Fisher has been awarded the Morton Deutsch Conflict Resolution Award from the Peace Psychology Division of the American Psychological Association for 2003. Fisher retired in 2000 after spending 25 years at the U of S, and is now teaching in the graduate program in International Peace and Conflict Resolution at American University in Washington, D.C.

    Janice MacKinnon, Associate Professor in the Department of History, has been appointed to the board of the Institute for Research on Public Policy, an independent national think-tank. MacKinnon, Canada's first female finance minister, is one of five new directors appointed to the 23-member board.

    Tilk
    Joan Tilk, Manager of Printing Services, has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Leadership Saskatoon, Inc. The Leadership Saskatoon program is an educational opportunity for new leaders from different sectors of the community.
    Eli Bornstein, Professor Emeritus of Art and Art History, and Editor of The Structurist, a biennial art publication, has two major engagements in Europe next month. He is to hold meetings Nov. 13-20 with the Director of the Musee d'Orsay in Paris, who is curator of an upcoming Nov. 5-Feb. 22 exhibition 'At the Origins of Abstraction, 1800-1914'. The next edition of The Structurist, to be published next year, will include a review of this important exhibition. Then Bornstein travels to the International University in Bremen, Germany, to present a lecture Nov. 21 on 'The Idea of Abstract Constructive Art'.
