Pennock named University Secretary
Lea Pennock has been appointed University Secretary, effective July 1, 2005. She will succeed Gordon Barnhart who will retire at the end of June.
The secretary is a senior official who provides advice, manages liaison with the University’s governance bodies and disseminates University policies.
Pennock has held academic and administrative positions at the Universities of Regina and Toronto, and Queen’s.
She has been with the U of S since 1989, holding a variety of positions including a number in Student & Enrolment Services Division. For six years she was Assistant Registrar for Admissions and Awards. She also served in 2002-04 as Acting Academic Dean for St. Andrew’s College. In recent years she directed the major U of S project to upgrade its student information system.
Pennock studied English literature at the Universities of Regina and Calgary, and received her master’s and PhD degrees from Queen’s University.
