Letter To The Editor

Respect for support staff urged by GSA executive

To the editor:

The executive of the University of Saskatchewan Graduate Students’ Association would like to express its concern with the current state of relations between the support staff, represented by CUPE 1975, and the senior administration. The support staff, which includes employees such as library clerks, parking services attendants, departmental secretaries, and Louis’, Browsers, and facilities management staff, are a vital part of the university community. Therefore, the executive urges the senior administration to work with the union to ensure that a suitable arrangement between the two parties is reached.

The Graduate Students’ Association and CUPE 1975 acknowledge that labour strife has the potential to adversely affect the experience of students at the university. At a time when a large number of students have travelled to the university to commence post-secondary studies, the senior administration should demonstrate its respect for the employees responsible for an enjoyable and academically productive experience.

President, GSA
