U of S President Peter MacKinnon will be presented with an honorary Doctorate of Laws degree at the University of Regina’s fall convocation ceremony.
“As you can imagine, I am deeply honoured to be receiving this degree,” said MacKinnon. “What makes the occasion particularly special is that this recognition comes from our colleagues in Regina with whom we share so much.”
In an Oct. 5 news release, U of R President and Vice-Chancellor Robert Hawkins said MacKinnon “stands pre-eminent among Canada’s university leaders.” He went on to recognize MacKinnon’s contributions as a scholar and dean, and as a champion for “the role of Canada’s universities in preparing us for the knowledge-based economy of the 21st century.”
This is the first honorary degree for MacKinnon who will also give the convocation address at the Oct. 21 ceremony.
