Art Dumont, chairman and chief executive officer of Tehnicoil Corporation in Calgary, has been returned to a second term as chair of the U of S Board of Governors.
At a meeting Sept. 29, board members approved the recommendation of its Governance and Nominating Committee that Dumont, an Engineering graduate of the U of S, serve another term. He was originally appointed to the board by the provincial government in 2003.
Board members also approved Nancy Hopkins as vice-chair for a one-year term. A Commerce and Law graduate, Hopkins is a partner in the Saskatoon law firm McDougall and Gauley. She was first appointed to the board in April 2005.
University Secretary Lea Pennock said the University will soon take forward to the Saskatchewan government a nominee to fill the vacant eleventh position on the board, which is the fifth of five Order in Council appointments. She expects that nominee to be approved before year-end.
The smaller board size prompted a reduction in the number of committees, which was also approved Sept. 29. Pennock said the Governance and Nominating Committee has been combined with the Executive Committee to form the Governance and Executive Committee. Similarly, what were the Finance Committee and Investment Committee is now the Finance and Investment Committee.
