Colleen Dell, currently an associate professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Carleton University with associate status at the Canadian Centre on Substance Abuse, has been named as the new Research Chair in Substance Abuse at the U of S. The appointment is part of the provincial government’s three-year Project Hope initiative designed to prevent and treat substance abuse in Saskatchewan. Dell will assume her position by July. |
Dr. Ali Rajput, professor emeritus of medicine, was named the 2006 Saskatoon Citizen of the Year, recognition of his life-long commitment to neurology and the study of diseases like Parkinson’s. The Saskatchewan Medical Association also named Rajput Doctor of the Year for 2006. |

The U of S Library has announced five recent appointments: • Christine Neilson to a three-year term position at the Saskatchewan Health Information Resources Partnership Outreach Services Librarian. She holds a Masters of Library and Information Studies from the U of A and a BSc in Environmental Studies from the University of Manitoba. • Kristen Eger to a 16-month term position as budget and projects assistant. • Anna Gersher as a seasonal library assistant supervisor in the Access Services Division. • Brenda Eshelby as a seasonal library assistant in the Engineering Library. • Duane Turner as a library assistant in the Access Services Division. |

Kathy Evans has taken up the position of Centennial Co-ordinator for the U of S 100th anniversary celebrations. She moved into the job from the Residence office where she handled McEown Park rentals. |
The Foundation for the Study of Processes of Government in Canada recently elected Rob Norris, coordinator of global relations, as provincial director for Saskatchewan. The foundation delivers national and international youth leadership programs to promote understanding of government roles and functions. |
