Tim Black from the Health and Wellness Resource Centre displays a new product that will soon be sold on campus to reduce the number of winter slips and falls. Called Get a Grip, the strap-on spiked grippers that are used by the Canadian Postal Service will be sold at the University Bookstore for about $20 per pair. According to Worker’s Compensation Board data, slips and falls at the U of S account for about 20 per cent of all reported injuries and 40 per cent of injury-related costs. Black stressed the product should only be worn outside as they can damage indoor flooring.
