The University’s Integrated Planning Office (IPO) is sorting through the results of an online survey in an effort to narrow down the priorities that will form the backbone of the institution’s next integrated plan.
A total of 148 people took time to complete the survey which asked participants to rate 87 different initiatives as worthy of University-wide consideration, in need of further development or neither, said Pauline Melis, director of institutional planning with the IPO. The survey is one step in the effort to gather feedback on the proposed initiatives, she said.
“Our analysis of the results will help identify initiatives, groups of initiatives or themes that represent real opportunities for the University to move forward toward its stated goals.”
The majority of survey respondents – about 43 per cent – identified themselves as University staff members. The remainder, in descending order, was faculty (20 per cent), students (15 per cent), deans and senior administrators (5.4 per cent each), other (three per cent) and alumni (about three per cent).
Melis said the results “will look to identify the initiatives or groups of initiatives that have the most passion behind them, that people are most excited about. This information, along with what we heard at a consultation meeting in December, will help shape the draft plan, which will then be widely available for even more response.”
The survey results, along with a summary of comments by respondents, will be posted on the Integrated Planning website by early February. By early March, Melis expects the draft integrated plan will also be on the website, and that a process for further consultation on that document will be in place.
