GreenCampus
April 24, 2009
Students in northern communities will get some help becoming young scientists while helping the environment at the same time.
Used microscopes and other used equipment from university laboratories are on the wish list for Sally Meadows, program administrator for high school initiatives with the College of Engineering. She is recycling the equipment to give schools “who, in some cases, lack adequate laboratory equipment.”
Meadows said she will go up to communities like Pinehouse Lake and Buffalo Narrows as part of a northern science ambassadors program. That program will send engineering graduate and undergraduate students to northern communities to give workshops and assess what kind of equipment and help the schools might need.
