At the plaque unveiling ceremony June 19, the College Building was recognized by the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada as a National Historic Site, a designation it received in 2001. The ceremony was moderated by Allan Dudridge, Saskatchewan member of the Historic Sites and Monuments Board. Other speakers included Saskatoon Mayor Don Atchison, U of S President Peter MacKinnon, Katherine Patterson with Parks Canada and Historian Bill Waiser.  The plaque was unveiled by Gordon Barnhart, lieutenant governor of Saskatchewan.
