Academic Priorities Fund supports fellowships
May 8, 2009
The university will increase its graduate fellowship program by 20 for the 2009/10 academic year with each of the PhD students taking part in a mentored teaching experience.
Information from the College of Graduate Studies and Research said the new teaching fellows will be preparing and delivering undergraduate class material with guidance from staff in the Gwenna Moss Centre for Teaching Effectiveness and faculty members in the students’ particular discipline. The value of each fellowship is $18,000 per year with graduate studies contributing $12,000 and participating colleges or schools contributing $6,000.
The expansion of the fellowship program is supported through the Academic Priorities Fund and is expected to serve as a recruitment tool for grad students. The new fellowship positions also further the university’s goal of enriching the experience of both graduate and undergraduate students.
