Laura Kennedy, associate vice-president financial services and controller, has received the outstanding contribution award from the Canadian Association of University Business Officers (CAUBO). A member of the CAUBO finance committee for 11 years, Kennedy chaired the group in 2008-09. She was also a member of the task force that reviewed the organization's financial reporting and she established the CAUBO Western Regional Reporting Committee in 2007.

The new executive director of the School of Environment and Sustainability, Karsten Liber, was a participant in the recent Eye on Innovation event, sponsored by the Canada Foundation for Innovation. The event created an opportunity for federal MPs, Senators and senior government officials to learn more about Canada's research successes and capacity for innovation.
