More recognition for DFAIT
October 30, 2009
It was interesting to read about the campus gathering of some of the past and present leaders of the DFAIT (Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade) who are from Saskatchewan (OCN October 16, 2009). It should also be noted that the U of S, in the past, has recognized the contribution of the Canadian Trade Commissioner Service (which is the predecessor of the DFAIT's Trade part) during its 100th anniversary by awarding an Honorary Doctorate to U of S alumnus Al Kilpatrick, then Chief Trade Commissioner of Canada and Deputy Minister of International Trade.
This was done in recognition of the contribution of many Canadian Trade Commissioners in assisting Saskatchewan-based businesses reach and capture international markets and helping U of S international business students with hands-on opportunities to realize the realities of the international marketplace.
