Olympic Memory
February 5, 2010
Ernest Wynne “Joe” Griffiths, the man who comprised the entire Dept. of Physical Education when he arrived at the U of S in 1920 and the man for whom the stadium is named, was also a coach with Canada’s track and field team at three Olympic games – 1932, 1936 and 1948. Among the Olympic memorabilia in the University Archives is this photo of Griffiths signing autographs at the 1936 games in Berlin.
