Fond farewell
September 10, 2010
Douglas Freeman, dean of the Western College of Veterinary Medicine (WCVM), left, and U of S President Peter MacKinnon were among the people on hand Aug. 31 to pay tribute to Elaine Angielski, centre, who retired from the university after 45 years, six months. MacKinnon pointed out that Lester Pearson was prime minister when Angielski took her first job with the WCVM in March 1965, and there have been eight prime ministers since. Freeman noted that he is one of the newest staff members at the college, having worked for just 262,800 minutes compared to Angielski’s 28 million minutes. Angielski worked in the areas of faculty and general administration as well as admissions where she interacted with thousands of students over the years.
