Campus Incidents

Selected incidents reported by the Department of Campus Safety. Report all information about these and other incidents to Campus Safety at 966-5555.
April 11-17
- Officers issued citations for the following:
- 1 for driving while suspended
- 2 for operating an unregistered motor vehicle
- 6 for speeding
- Mac’s Convenience Store at Place Riel reported an attempted theft through the locked security gates after hours.
- Officers investigated a report of a suspicious male at Education. The male was tracked down and the situation dealt with.
- Graffiti was reported in a washroom in Education and in several areas of the Murray Building.
- Officers attended Innovation Place to remove an unwanted person.
- A backpack containing an iPad and cell phone was stolen from Law. Cell phone has a tracking device and city police are now investigating.
- A bicycle was reported stolen from racks at Seager Wheeler. Cable lock was cut off.
- A parking enforcement officer was assaulted while issuing a parking ticket. The officer was not injured.
- A fire alarm was activated in Qu’Appelle Hall. There was no fire or smoke and it appears the alarm was pulled as a prank.
- Officers attended a dispute between two roommates in Saskatchewan Hall. Alcohol was a contributing factor.
April 18-24
- Officers issued citations for the following:
- 1 for displaying unauthorized license plates
- 1 for driving while disqualified
- 1 for backing up when unsafe
- 1 for operating an unregistered motor vehicle
- Officers attended a fire alarm at Seager Wheeler. A common area was completely filled with smoke. Upon investigation, officers discovered someone had left food unattended in the oven and it was burnt. Smoke was cleared out of the area.
- While on routine foot patrol, officers observed a male sleeping in a lounge. He had no ID and said he was not a member of the University community. Officers escorted him off campus.
- A student election poster was reported stolen from the Arts Tunnel. Four students were found in possession of the poster.
- Graffiti was written on the MUB.
- Willful damage was done to doors at the Saskatchewan Cancer Centre.
- Damage was done to numerous dinner glasses when students in Marquis Hall simultaneously smashed their glasses on the floor. Several students were identified and are being dealt with.
- A sewer line in Marquis Hall failed, causing sewer backup in a storage room in the Bookstore. Cleanup is under way. Approximate loss due to damage was $10,000.
