Chancellor’s Tour
May 27, 2011
During the U of S Chancellor’s Great War Memorial Tour April 26- May 8, which visited historic war sites in Belgium and France, the 30 tour members stopped at Menin Gate in Ypres, Belgium, where the Last Post Ceremony has been held every night since 1928. Menin Gate lists the names of over 55,000 missing British and Commonwealth soldiers who died in the Ypres Salient area but have no known grave. This photo, taken by Bill Waiser, history professor and the tours historian, shows Chancellor Vera Pezer placing a wreath on behalf of the university, and Marley Waiser placing two roses in memory of two great uncles memorialized on the panels.
