Gareth Perry, a PhD candidate in the Department of Physics and Engineering Physics, won top honours in the student paper competition hosted by the American Geophysical Union. The title of his paper is Optimization of a 50 MHz Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave Radar system for the study of auroral E-region coherent backscatter.
Jim Handy has been appointed to the position of head of the Department of History in the College of Arts and Science for a three-year term starting July 1.
The University Library has announced that Dale Amerud, formerly with Integrated Planning and Assessment, has assumed the position of director of Financial and Physical Resources. Also, Genevieve Braganza, a recent Master of Public Health graduate from the U of S, joined the Library staff as assessment analyst.
The Rev. Terry Wiebe has been appointed principal of The College of Emmanuel and St. Chad for a three-year term starting June 1. He joins the college after five years as dean of St. John’s Anglican Cathedral, Saskatoon.
Wayne Robinson has been appointed lecturer in the Dept. of Bioresource Policy, Business and Economics for a three-year term that started May 1.
