Huskies win the Vanier Cup once again
It's been a number of weeks since the Huskies once again brought home the
Vanier silverware after a 31-12, come-from-behind win over the St. Francis
Xavier X-Men at the SkyDome in Toronto. So this isn't exactly yesterday's
news.
But we didn't want their terrific victory to go unsung.
So this page is for you, guys - a small tribute to your dedicated
training, your determination to re-take the Vanier (after losing in
over-time in '94), and to your athletic prowess on the field.
We're proud of you once again. You've brought no small glory to the U of
S once again. And thanks for the memories once again.
Congratulations to:
- The entire Huskies team, including captains Brent Schneider,
David Fisher, and Trent Bagnall.
-
Brent Schneider - winner of the Ted Morris Trophy as the game's MVP and
nominee for the Hec Crighton Trophy, emblematic of the outstanding player
in the CIAU
- James Repeese, winner of the J.P. Metras Trophy, as the outstanding CIAU
lineman for 1996
- Trent Bagnall, nominated for the Presidents' Trophy as the league's
