Windows 2000 study set

The U of S Dept. of Computing Services issued the following announcement in mid-April:

Microsoft released the Windows 2000 operating system in February 2000. Windows 2000 is the replacement operating system for Windows NT and Windows 98 and marks the biggest change since Windows NT was first released. Some of the changes introduced in Windows 2000 have the potential to affect the use and management of Windows NT servers on campus.

To address the changes and to plan for the deployment of Windows 2000, the Dept. of Computing Services, in collaboration with several other groups on campus, has formed a Windows 2000 implementation project. The mandate of the project is to evaluate Windows 2000, test existing software in a Windows 2000 environment, and plan how to best deploy Windows 2000 across the campus.

The project would like to invite all those interested in learning more about the project to send e-mail to: w2k_projectmgr@usask.ca or phone Jorgen Madsen at: 966-4851.
