On Thursday, April 16, Fiona Buchanan, of Animal and Poultry Science, will give a lecture entitled "Using DNA Marker to Distinguish Beluga Whale Populations," in 106 Biology, at 7:30 p.m.
The University Observatory's hours for public viewing of objects in the Saturday night sky for April 11, 18, and 25, are 9:30 - 11:30 p.m. On clear evenings, visitors may view the Orion Nebula and the Pleiades star cluster through the telescope.

- Children and the Holocaust
The DCC has mounted a photography exhibit showing children caught up in the Holocaust. Entitled "How Their Hearts Must Have Trembled: Children and the Holocaust," the exhibit will be showing throughout April and May. See separate story.
Continuing to April 19: Mixed Messages: Semantics and Contemporary Painting, featuring Canadian artists Julie Duschenes, David Elliott, Marie Lannoo, Susan Menzies, Ron Moppett, Margaret Vanderhaeghe, Paul Smith and Janet Warner, in which the relationships between painting and semantics are variously explored.

On Sunday, April 19, Professor Barry Brown, Educational Communications, will, as part of the Mendel Gallery's Plain Truth exhibition (of prairie photographers and filmmakers (1858-1950)), discuss old photographic techniques and equipment, at the Mendel, at 2 p.m.
The Gallery is located in Romm 191 of the Murray Building. Hours: 9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday; Noon to 5 p.m., Saturday.
The Museum of Antiquities is displaying a collection of more than 300 original, ancient, and medieval coins from Greece, Rome, Egypt, the Holy Land, and Great Britain. An additional exhibit features original military and domestic artifacts from ancient Greece, Rome, Egypt, and Mesopotamia, including an Egyptian Ka mask, amulettes, oil lamps, pottery, sword, dagger and arrow points.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 12 noon and usually Monday-Wednesday-Friday afternoons until 2:30. The Museum is located in Room 237 of the Murray Building. FMI, phone -7818.
