NOTES FROM HRD

  • Sessional Lecturers ... The next application period for the Sessional Lecturer Professional Conference Assistance Fund is March 1-15, 2000. Individuals who plan to attend conferences in April, 2000, through October, 2000, should apply to Alana Carmichael, Human Resources Division. For further details, refer to Appendix L of the CUPE 3287 collective agreement, HRD’s web site (http://adminsrv.usask.ca/hrdivision) or contact Alana at 966-6266 or e-mail alana.carmichael@usask.ca .

  • Faculty Recruitment Expenses ... The procedures for obtaining reimbursement for interview expenses have recently been revised. In short, interview expenses should be charged directly to the appropriate account (as described below) and expense claim forms or cheque requisitions sent directly to Employee and Student Accounts. The central University recruitment account should be charged for expenses associated with the standard number of candidates and the ‘standard’ types of expenses as specified in the recruitment policy. Deans have signing authority for the central recruitment account. A college or department account should be charged for expenses associated with additional candidates, or expenses in excess of the ‘standard’ expenses. The dean/department head is the signing authority on college/departmental accounts. For more information, please refer to pages 31 and 32 of A Guide to Recruitment and Retention - Policies and Procedures for Appointments, which is found on the following website: http://www.usask.ca/vpacademic/policies/recruitment.html

    .

  • Reminder ... If you are interested in participating in the Employment Systems Review of faculty employment systems and practices (please see February 4 edition of On Campus News) - please contact Terry Unser at 966-6291 to arrange for an appointment.

  • Staff Changes ... Congratulations to Tari Forrest and her husband, Greg, on the birth of their daughter on February 11. Replacing Tari while she is on maternity leave is Kathie Jeffrey. Kathie will begin work in HRD on February 21. Questions related to ASPA can be directed to Kathie at 966-6271.
