NOTES FROM THE HUMAN RESOURCES DIVISION
- The next application period for the Sessional
Lecturer Professional Conference Assistance
Fund is March1-15, 1999. Individuals who plan
to attend conferences in April, 1999, through October,
1999, should apply to Alana Carmichael. For
further details, see Appendix L of the CUPE 3287
Collective Agreement, HRD's web site

- Part Time Pension Plan for Sessional Lecturers:
Pension Plan enrollment forms and information pamphlets
have been mailed to those sessional lecturers who, as of January
1, 1999, are eligible to participate in the University's
"Pension Plan for Less Than Full Time, Continuous Employment
Staff" (Research Pension Plan, 5%).
- Wage adjustment: Agreement has been reached
on the final wage adjustment in the 1996-99 Collective
Agreement with the Sessional Lecturers' Union. The revised
total stipend (including vacation pay) for a six credit
unit course is now $7,381, retroactive to July 1, 1998.
Retroactive payments will be available on March 31 for
those people who are already scheduled to receive a regular paycheque
at the end of March and on April 8 for anyone not scheduled to get
a regular paycheque in March.
Replacement pages to update the 1996-99 Sessional
Lecturer Collective Agreement and Procedures Manual have
been mailed to deans and department heads.

- Blue Cross cards have now been distributed. If you have
not received your card, please contact the Benefits
Office at 966-6633. The Benefits and Pension
website has been updated with information on how to claim
for dental, extended health care, and formulary drugs

- The following workshops have space for
additional participants:
- On Wednesday and Thursday, March 3 and 4,
Charlotte Rochon and Pierre Cadrin facilitate
"Performance Enhancement: Feedback and Development
Planning,"
for those employees with supervisory
responsibilities wanting an overview of performance enhancement
and performance management concepts, best practices,
and interviewing.
- On Wednesday and Thursday, March 10 and 11,
Charlotte Rochon and Catherine
Delaney will lead a two-day workshop on
"Interpersonal Communication." Participants will learn
the
key elements of, and skills for, effective
interpersonal communication. This workshop is open to
all employees.
