Psychiatry prof. attending ‘women in science’ conference in London, Eng.

A U of S professor of psychiatry is one of a number of top Canadian and British women scientists, academics and business women attending a Women in Science conference being held May 4-5 at Canada House in London, England.

Lillian Dyck

Dr. Lillian Dyck, who works with the University’s Neuropsychiatric Research Unit and who recently won the National Aboriginal Achievement Award, joins at least half a dozen other leading Canadian women at the conference.

Topics at the Women in Science conference include contemporary issues in research and development, technology transfer, and the culture of science.

The conference is one of a four-part series of the Women Crossing Borders project, sponsored by the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade and the Canadian High Commission in London.

That project highlights, showcases and promotes women’s work and its impact on people’s social, economic and political well-being in Canada and Britain.

The Women in Science conference follows the 1999 conference entitled Women’s Equality and Participation in Public Life. This October a conference on Women in Business will be held, followed by one on Women as Community Leaders, to be held next year.

Prof. Dyck has her BA, M.Sc. and PhD, all from the University of Saskatchewan.
