CAMPUS ON-LINEWeb offers resources for information providersBy Corinne Szwydky
Last month, the "Campus On-line" column featured information about the WebEvent calendar. In fact, the web-based calendar software is only one of many tools available to campus information providers. The U of S central webmasters have assembled a number of development tools for use on unit web sites. These tools range from standard stylesheets and menubars to enhance web content maintained by unit information providers, to custom CGI and related scripts to handle form data submitted by web site visitors. Kevin Lowey, Computing Services, has developed an on-line course identifying these tools and explaining their applications. The course will be showcased at a noon-hour seminar entitled "Campus Web Development Tools" on Wed., Nov. 17, from 12 noon - 1 p.m. in C210 Administration Building. If you wish to attend, RSVP to kevin.lowey@usask.ca Information providers are encouraged to preview the development tools, including but not limited to: Tools for Apache servers:
Tools for the WWW server:
Tools for general usage:
The campus community is encouraged to attend upcoming noon-hour web seminars and Information Providers Group meetings, offered monthly throughout the academic term. Further information is available at: www.usask.ca/web_project/
