Sarty and Pierson

HSURC post-doctoral fellow Gord Sarty and Professor Roger Pierson, Obstetrics and Gynecology, won a first prize research award for their paper entitled "Ovarian follicular response to superstimulation in a three-dimensional parametric space," at a recent World Congress of the International Federation of Fertility Societies, in San Francisco. Their paper was chosen from more than 2,000 abstracts submitted to the Congress.

Whiting and Berenbaum

Professor Susan Whiting is the new assistant dean of the College of Pharmacy and Nutrition. Her appointment extends to June 30, 2000. Dr. Shawna Berenbaum replaces Whiting as head of the Division of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Professor Howard Woodhouse, of Educational Foundations, has the honor of having a book chapter included in a collection of essays on Bertrand Russell that includes pieces by such notables as Sir Isaiah Berlin, T.S. Eliot, Sydney Hook, and I.F. Stone. The collection - on Russell's views on a range of topics - is published by Routledge of London and is the fourth part of Bertrand Russell: Critical Assessments, edited by Andrew Irvine, of UBC.
