    • On Friday, November 13, Professor Ron Cuming, recipient of the Spring 1998 Distinguished Researcher Award, will give a lecture entitled "The Exportability of Canadian Commercial Law to Developing Countries," at 4 p.m. in Room 146 Arts. A reception will follow.

    • On Monday, November 30, Dr. Larry Fowke, recipient of the Fall 1998 Distinguished Researcher Award, will present a lecture entitled "Studying Plants for Fun and Profit," at 4 p.m. in Biology Room 106. A reception will follow in Geology Room 102.

    On Friday, November 13, Professor Brenda Baker, Department of Philosophy, University of Calgary, will present a public lecture entitled "Understanding Consent in Sexual Assault," in Room 104 Arts, at 2:30 p.m. Presented by the Department of Philosophy with sponsorship from the President's Employment Equity Enhancement Fund and Arts and Sciences' Role Model Speaker Fund.   • PUBLIC LECTURE - PHIL FONTAINE

    On Tuesday, November 17, Phil Fontaine, grand chief of the FSIN, will give a lecture entitled "Human Rights and First Nations," in the Place Riel Theatre, at 3:30 p.m. in Room 143 Arts Building. The lecture is part of a cross-country series being held in celebration of the 10th anniversary of Vision TV, a non-affiliated specialty network that focuses on humanitarian, ethical, and moral issues.

  • SASKATOON NATURE SOCIETY - PUBLIC LECTURE

    On Thursday, November 19, Dr. Taylor Steeves, professor emeritus of biology, will give a talk entitled "Can we survive overpopulation?" in the Biology Lecture Theatre, at 7:30 p.m. He will trace the history of the relationship between human beings and the biosphere and suggest that we must moderate our desire for an ever expanding global economy and recognize that a sustainable relationship to the biosphere is essential for human survival.     • On Monday, November 16, DongNing He, a graduate student in Soil Science, will present a seminar entitled "Influence of FTG Burkholderia cepacia strain Ral-3 on growth of select deciduous species," in 2E25 Agriculture Building, at 3:30 p.m.

    • On Friday, November 20, Paul Davis, PhD candidate, will give a thesis defence seminar entitled "Acute and chronic effects of nitric oxide on cardiomyocyte guanylyl cyclase: Implications for the modulation of the heart following environmental physiological and clinical exposure to nitric oxide," in Room 12, Toxicology Centre, at 1 p.m.


  • 'UNIVERSITY AT THE LIBRARY'- PUBLIC LECTURE

    On Tuesday, November 24, Professor Roy Billinton, associate dean (graduate studies, research, and extension), Engineering, will give a public lecture entitled "What's it worth to keep the lights on?" in the Saskatoon Public Library's "University at the Library" series, at the Public Library, at 12 noon.   • VETERINARY PHYSIOLOGICAL SCIENCES
