DEATHS

Coupland

Robert T. Coupland
passed away March 3 in Saskatoon.  He was a Professor Emeritus of Crop Science and Plant Ecology.  He served as head of  Plant Ecology at the U of S from 1948-83.  Born in Winnipeg, he had a distinguished research and teaching career, specializing in native grasslands in arid regions.  He was an Officer of the Order of Canada, and was an honorary visiting professor at the university in Changchun, China.  He retired from the U of S in 1985.     He is survived by his daughter Lori, and three grandchildren.  See note on April 27 memorial services, in ‘Coming Events’ on Special Events of this OCN.



Yackulic

R. Alan Yackulic
passed away suddenly from a heart attack April 4 at age 54.  He was an active Assoc. Prof. of Educational Psychology & Special Education at the time of his death.  He had been on the faculty at the U of S since 1977.  Born in Lethbridge, he earned degrees at the University of Alberta and taught for two years at Acadia University in Nova Scotia before joining the U of S.  He was a specialist in educational evaluation.  He is survived by his wife Dorothy, sons Andrew and Matthew, mother Helen, brothers George and Peter, and sisters Carol and Patti.
