Finance Minister Paul Martin checks out the CLS synchrotron
As other federal cabinet ministers like Ralph Goodale, Brian Tobin – and even Prime Minister Jean Chretien – have done before him, on May 23, federal Finance Minister Paul Martin came to see first-hand what all the talk about the $173-million Canadian Light Source synchrotron was about.. Project Manager Mark de Jong took Martin on a walking tour of the football-field-sized facility, accompanied by U of S President Peter MacKinnon. The Finance Minister received briefings from CLS technicians on aspects of the science that will unfold in the synchrotron in the coming years.
