DIEFENBAKER CANADA CENTRE

Continuing to March 11, "The Vikings: Master Mariners, Traders, Colonists & Artisans", a traveling exhibit from the Manitoba Museum of Man & Nature, features graphic panels and mounted artifacts explaining the Vikings’ daily lives, crafts, trade, and sophisticated ship-building techniques. It presents a balanced image of these northern people who 1,000 years ago arrived in what is now Newfoundland. The Centre is open Sundays 12:30-5 p.m., Mondays & Fridays 9:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Tuesdays to Thursdays 9:30 a.m.-8 p.m. Admission $2 for adults, $1 for children 3-16, and $5 for families. GORDON SNELGROVE GALLERY

Running to Feb. 17, "Saskatoon Public High School Art Teachers’ Exhibition". Features works by: Lee Baker, Cindy Zintel, Susan Kalapaca, Kim Strange, Donna Lee Dumont, Kevin Sikorsky, Allen David, Karen Wooller, Geraldine Martin, Kathy Malanovich, Murray Jorgenson, Cam Sikorsky, Garf Grimsen, Renee Duddridge, Ruth Montgomery, Tammy Alexander, Karon Guttormson, Noella Thompson, and Dale Frederickson. The gallery, in Rm. 191, Murray Bldg., 3 Campus Dr., is operated by the U of S Dept. of Art & Art History, with assistance from the Museums Assn. of Sask. and Sask. Lotteries Trust Fund. Continuing to March 20 – "Land and Sky: Ruth Pawson’s Prairie Vision", an exhibition of plein air paintings and archival documents from University Collections exploring the career of Regina landscape artist Ruth Pawson (1908 - 1994).

MUSEUM OF ANTIQUITIES

The Museum of Antiquities, 237 Murray Bldg. Currently featuring "Myths and Legends", a special exhibition on the mythology surrounding certain ancient artworks – including Aphrodite, Osiris, and the Parthenon. The Museum also features a permanent collection of full-scale replicas of ancient Greek, Roman, and medieval sculpture, made with exacting scholarship by the Louvre, Paris, as well as ancient coinage and artifacts. Open Mon. - Fri., 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon, as well as some unscheduled times by appointment. For info. call 966-7818.
