‘DIS-orientation’ offered for second year

With a bit of fine-tuning after last year’s inaugural run, Alumni & Development has again co-ordinated the offering of DIS-orientation Week, Jan. 29-Feb. 2, giving 17 seminars and workshops for students on issues that will face them after graduation.

A&D Officer Julian Demkiw says the week has been moved forward five week from last year’s March offering, and each of the five days will offer theme sessions, on Alumni, Career, Money, Job, and Education.

Sessions include women in the workforce, Aboriginal awareness, "working queer", job-hunting skills, starting your own business, investing on a small budget, and stress management.

The week began with a kickoff banquet Jan. 29, allowing students and alumni to meet.

Demkiw says 340 students took in DIS-orientation sessions last year, and he hopes for about 500 this year.
