Council wants grad survey done every 2 yrs
At its Jan. 25 meeting, University Council voted to have the recently released Student Outcomes Survey repeated every two years.
The first survey, by the Sociology Departments Social Research Unit and Anderson/Fast Associates, did a 1999 telephone polling of 1,652 1994 U of S graduates, asking them their satisfaction with their U of S education, their employment status, income levels and other indicators.
The survey found a wealth of data, including that more than 90 per cent were satisfied with their U of S education, more than 80 per cent would recommend it to family and friends, and more than 90 per cent were working.
Councils Planning Committee said in a report to Council Jan. 25 that a December workshop on the Student Outcomes Survey found faculty thought it was very useful for University and College accountability and program review, and should be repeated.
As a result, the Planning Committee recommended the University Studies Group conduct it every two years, and Council endorsed the idea.
