KENDERDINE ART GALLERY

  • Continuing to Feb. 17, “spilled edge soft corners”, an exhibition of paintings which open the boundaries of abstraction by abandoning the traditional frame and stretcher.  Curated by Barbara Fischer.  Artists include: Polly Apfelbaum, Franηois-Marie Bertrand, Eric Cameron, John Heward, Andy Patton, Mary Scott, Jessica Stockholder, and Robert Youds.
  • Feb. 23-April 7, Dmytro Stryjek: Poetic Vision, a touring exhibition of paintings by the nationally acclaimed Saskatchewan artist Dmytro Stryjek. Includes intense engagement with landscape, icon paintings and portraiture.  Supported by Canada Council, U of S, Sask. Arts Board, and the Museums Assn. of Saskatchewan. MUSEUM OF ANTIQUITIES

Running to Feb. 15, “From Homer to Tolkien: Elements of Western Myth,”, an exhibit on the similarities in myth through the ages, featuring original artwork by Carrie Allen.  The Museum also features a permanent collection of full-scale replicas of ancient Greek, Roman, and medieval sculpture, made with exacting scholarship by the Louvre and the British Museum, as well as original Roman coinage and Greek and Roman pottery and glass.  It offers tours, workshops, and educational resources for students and the public.  In Rm. 237, Main Library, Murray Bldg.   Hours: 9 a.m.–4 p.m. Mondays, 9 a.m.–12 noon Wednesdays & Fridays, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. Tuesdays & Thursdays, and 6:30–8:30 p.m. Tuesdays.  For info call 966-7818.       

ST. THOMAS MORE GALLERY

CALL FOR ENTRIES – GARDENSCAPE 2002 ART SHOW & SALE

The U of S Arts Council invites submissions for the GardenScapes 2002 Art Show & Sale, to be held Mar. 22–24 during Gardenscape, a major annual home gardening trade show and educational event sponsored by the Saskatoon Prairieland Exhibition Corporation.
