Pezer, Smith given emeritus status

To honor retiring Associate Vice-President (Student Affairs & Services) Dr. Vera Pezer, her staffer and associate Jana Danielson presented Pezer with an “Honorary Doctor of Laws of University 101” degree at that course’s recent graduation ceremony.  The two developed ‘U-101’ together a few years ago.

At its November meeting, the U of S Board of Governors voted to appoint the University’s retiring Registrar, Ken Smith, and Associate Vice-President (Student Affairs & Services), Vera Pezer, to emeritus status.

Effective Jan. 1, 2002, Smith and Pezer are Registrar Emeritus and Vice-President (Student Affairs & Services) Emerita, respectively.

With the retirement of the two senior officials, the administration has named two people to serve as acting replacements.

Doug Rain, Director of the Student Employment & Career Centre (SECC), has been named Acting Associate Vice-President (Student Affairs & Services).

Lea Pennock, Assistant Registrar (Enrolment Services) has been named Acting Registrar.  Most recently she also directed the review of Student Information System needs.
