SASKATOON ARCHAEOLOGY SOCIETY
Fri., Nov. 17, at 7:30 p.m. in Rm 132, U of S Archaeology & Anthropology Bldg., the Saskatoon Archaeology Society will hold its meeting for November, featuring University of Calgary PhD graduate student Trevor Peck who will present: late side-notched projectile points and more; and possible archaeological ethnic Indicators on the Northwestern Plains. FEDERAL ELECTION ROUND TABLE DISCUSSION
Tues., Nov. 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Rm. 264 Arts Bldg., the Dept. of Political Studies will hold a "Roundtable on the 2000 Federal Election Results". Panelists: to be announced. The campus community is welcome to attend!

KEN COATES BOOK LAUNCH
Nov. 22 at 7:00 p.m. at McNally Robinson Bookstore, new U of S Dean of Arts & Science Dr. Ken Coates will launch his latest book, "The Marshall Decision and Native Rights". Following a reading, Coates will sign copies. Coates, an award-winning Canadian historian, begins his duties as dean in January 2001.

COLLEGE OF NURSING RESEARCH DAY
The 3rd annual College of Nursing Research Day, on the topic "Research Utilization: From Research to Policy", will be held Fri., Nov. 17, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon. PRACTICAL MANAGEMENT OF COMMON MEDICAL PROBLEMS

The Second Annual Practical Management of Common Medical Problems Conference, sponsored by the Division of Infectious Diseases, Dept. of Medicine and Continuing Medical Education and Professional Develoment, will be held Nov. 24, 25 at the Saskatoon Inn. Guest faculty are Dr. John Conly, Hospital Epidemiologist and Director, Infection Prevention & Control Unit, University Health Network, Toronto and Dr. James Johnson, Assoc. Prof., Dept. of Medicine, U of Minnesota, VA Medical Centre, Minneapolis. The theme is Infectious Diseases, and the format includes interactive case discussions of common infectious diseases seen by physicians and pharmacists in their practices. U OF S OBSERVATORY VIEWING

The U of S on-campus observatory is open to the public 7:30-9:30 p.m. on Saturday evenings from October-February. The observatory is on campus one block north of Wiggins Ave. and College Dr. Admission is free. On clear evenings, visitors may look through the telescope to view the colorful Albireo double star, the Hercules globular star cluster, and other celestial objects. ‘2020 HEALTH VISION’ CONFERENCE

Nov. 24-25 at the Delta Bessborough Hotel, the Saskatoon & District Chamber of Commerce is hositng this conference. Dr. Cal Stiller, Chairman and CEO of Canadian Medical Discoveries Fund Inc., and Chair of the Ontario Research and Development Challenge Fund, is one of three world renown keynote speakers invited to discuss opportunities for business services, education, research and development in Health Services. LEARNING FOR LIFE CONFERENCE

Nov. 24-26 the U of S College of Education and the Sask. Teachers’ Federation present a conference, "Lifelong Learning: Connecting Schools, community & the Workplace", for teachers, ed. admnistrators, school trustees, adult educators, social services workers, health care providers, government officials and others. Themes include: classroom strategies linking the school, community and workplace; lifelong learning and the world of work; community-based initiatives; lifelong learning and the professions; and the role of post-secondary institutions. UNIFEST 2000 MUSIC FESTIVAL

Nov. 17-18 the U of S will host more than 3,000 young musicians at UNIFEST 2000, one of the most extensive music festivals of its kind in Canada. Presented by the Dept. of Music, UNIFEST is a festival of concert and jazz bands, choirs, and orchestras. Some of North America’s oustanding professional artists, clinicians and adjudicators will provide master classes, clinics and concerts for the visiting young performers and their directors. CIVIL ENGINEERING NOONER SERIES

Wed., Nov. 22 at 12:30 p.m., a video show entitled "Out from the Shadows and into the Light" will be will be shown in Rm. 2C01 Engineering to recognize Nov. 20 as the "International Day of the Child" and to celebrate the recent award of the Governor-General’s Medal to Cherry Kingsley, whose story is narrated in this video. Produced by the U of S Division of Audio Visual Services, this 56-minute video should be seen by all people concerned about the child sex trade. Everyone is cordially invited to attend.
