Computer Science gets recognition

U of S Computer Science Dept. Head Jim Greer accepts a plaque for accreditation of the department’s Software Engineering program from Karen Lopez, of the Canadian Information Processing Society (CIPS), during Lopez’s Oct. 24 visit to campus. This is the first such accreditation of a Software Engineering program in Canada. Lopez told a group of about 55 Computer Science students about the value to them of gaining Information Systems Professional (ISP) certification from CIPS. Greer said there are 350 third- and fourth-year Computer Science students at the U of S.
