| A number of members of the Steering Committee and the
Analysis Team of ‘Project Si!’, the Student Information: Needs & Options
project, spent a half-day Nov. 21 in a College of Commerce meeting room
reviewing and evaluating the various options for development of a new student
information system for the University.
Dan Chong, of Gartner Consulting, standing, led committee members
through a workshop format to facilitate the review. A shortlist of two or three options is being hammered out, and
will be presented to the Board of Governors in December — with a final
recommendation to be made to the Board in February. Members pictured are, from left: Project Director Lea Pennock (Registrar’s
Office), Chong, Lynne Pearson (Commerce), Bob Elliott (Financial Services), Ed
Pokraka (Information Technology Services), Ken Smith (Registrar’s Office), and
Darrell Broughton (ITS). Elliott and
Broughton are members of the Analysis Team and the others are members of the
Steering Committee. Also, Pearson,
Pokraka and Smith are chairs of the project’s Academic, Technical and
Functional Advisory Committees, respectively.

(Registrar’s Office), Ken Glover (ITS), and Mike McGillivray (Audit Svcs.) The Project Si! teams have carried out an
extensive needs analysis on campus since July and are considering ways to
develop a Student Information System that will accommodate the varied needs
across the University. The current
system is 15 years old and is threatened with obsolescence because some of its
components are no longer supported by suppliers. |
