Bruno-Ursuline Campus officially opensThe U of S is off and running in its four-year trial management of the former Ursuline Centre in Bruno, 90 km east of Saskatoon. The first order of business, after some renovations and upgrading to the 81-year-old building this spring, was to throw open the doors to the U of Ss new "Bruno-Ursuline Campus", with an official opening ceremony and open house held June 6.
About 100 people from Bruno, from the U of S, and former students and Sisters from the Ursuline Centre gathered to watch the official opening and ribbon-cutting, and tour through the facility. Bruce Hobin, Director of Programming for the new Campus, led groups through the extensive building, describing how it will be open to groups wanting to hold a conference, meeting, retreat, or other special activity. The Campus consists of a 60,000-sq-ft. facility on 65 acres in the town of Bruno. It has two large meeting rooms a hall and a gym and 12 classrooms. It can accommodate meetings of from 10 to 500. A dining room serves three meals a day and can seat 150. Up to 100 can sleep in 44 single and double rooms and 56 dormitory rooms. A Campus Bookstore and Tuck Shop are open daily. Accommodation rates range from $20 per night for a single bed in a dormitory room, up to $50 per night for a queen-sized bed in a room with a four-piece bathroom and office. The classrooms can be rented for $50 per day or $25 for an evening, and the gym with stage can be rented for $400 per day or $150 for an evening. Some room rentals may be waived if participants are staying in the rooms and eating on Campus.
