Pres. MacKinnon to host United Way reception

U of S Pres. Peter MacKinnon will host a reception for the United Way’s "Leaders of the Way" at the President’s Residence Sept. 13 from 4:30-6:30 p.m.

The "Leaders" are those who have donated $600 or more to the United Way.

United Way official Mona Loshack says the agency is "grateful" for the reception, "because it’s so important for us to thank all our donors."

She says the Leaders come from all walks of life, and the numbers are rising. In 1997 there were 246, in 1998 there were 304, and in 1999 there were 356.

Loshack says those wishing to become Leaders in time to be on the guest list for the reception should call the United Way at 975-7700 by Sept. 8.

"We consider Leaders as investors in solutions," she says, on issues like children’s health and safety, and fighting hunger and poverty.

Loshack says the United Way touches the lives of about 50,000 Saskatoon people.
