Notes from Human Resources Division

  • The appointment of Candace Lafferty as HR Manager (Aboriginal Employment) was announced this summer.

Since beginning work in May 2001, Candace has spent a great deal of time developing workshops on cultural education.  This training will be offered to all University employees, beginning in October 2001.

Further details will be included in the Partners in Learning calendar, produced by Organizational and Employee Development, as well as in On Campus News and others mailings.  For more information, contact Candace at 966-2063.

  • Campus Fair 2001 is being held in the Education Building on October 11th.  This is a unique opportunity for various University departments to showcase their services.  Plan to attend and visit the Human Resources Division display.  Representatives from Organizational and Employee Development, Health Safety and Environment, Benefits, and Employee Services (including Aboriginal employment) will be on hand to provide information.
  • A reminder… the University’s policy on child care and elder care expenses is as follows:

“Whenever employees are authorized by the University to travel for purposes related to the performance of their duties and they incur child care or elder care expenses as a result of such travel, expenses shall be reimbursed (to a maximum of $25 per day per child or elder), providing the following conditions are met:

    1)  There has been approval in advance by the dean, department head, or head of the administrative unit that such expenses may be claimed.

    2)  Submissions for child care or elder care expenses must be appropriately receipted and attached to the travel claim.

    3)  Amounts paid to a spouse or partner may not be claimed.”

For further information, contact Employee and Student Accounts at 966-4595.
