Pitching a great idea

Local Indigenous businesswoman Heather Abbey recently won the Wilson Centre for Entrepreneurial Excellence’s 2016 pitch party.

Her 60-second presentation topped the annual business competition hosted by the Wilson Centre, founded as a partnership with the University of Saskatchewan and established in 2007 with a $1-million gift from entrepreneur and philanthropist Brett Wilson, a U of S alumnus.

Abbey, originally from the Little Pine First Nation, founded her Saskatoon-based business, Shopindig.ca, in 2010 to promote products made by Indigenous artisans.
