University of Saskatchewan to unveil Henry Taube's Nobel Medal

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - September 17, 2013 The University of Saskatchewan invites media to attend an event celebrating the Nobel gold medal received by alumnus Henry Taube (BSc'35, MSc'37) in 1983. Taube's family donated the medal, along with numerous other personal awards and memorabilia, to the U of S in 2011.

Taube is the only U of S graduate—and first Canadian-born chemist—to have been awarded a Nobel Prize. He received the prestigious medal for his research that focused on the basic mechanisms of chemical reactions and, specifically, electron-transfer reactions.
This ceremony coincides with the Department of Chemistry's centennial and reunion weekend, being held September 20 and 21.
