Correction

The article 'New master's program boosts Spanish and study-abroad option for U of S students' (May 16, 2003 OCN) incorrectly stated there is a new graduate program in Spanish at the U of S. While the Department of Languages and Linguistics has an approved graduate program in French, there is no official program in Spanish. The College of Graduate Studies and Research has admitted two students to study Spanish on a special-case basis.

Special-case admissions are used on a limited basis in departments where no regular graduate program exists. After a certain number of special-case admissions, the College of Graduate Studies and Research requires that a regular program proposal be submitted and vetted through the various College- and University-level committees.

On Campus News apologizes for the error.
