A campus boost for the United Way

As it is every fall, the University of Saskatchewan is a big part of the September–November Saskatoon United Way campaign. This year for the Sept. 16 street-side launch of the $2.7-million effort on College Drive, Dean of Commerce Lynne Pearson, right, is joined by Saskatoon Mayor Don Atchison and United Way Director of Resource Development Gail Shivak. Pearson is 2004 Volunteer President of the United Way, which funds 31 local care agencies. On Sept. 13 at the Faculty Club, U of S President Peter MacKinnon hosted his annual reception for more than 130 United Way “leadership donors”, thanking them for their major contributions in 2003. And on Oct. 6 the Agricultural Students’ Association held its 46th annual Agros Blitz, canvassing faculty, staff, students and visitors on campus for spare change – raising $2,828.
