U of R raising $75 million

REGINA – The University of Regina has announced the start of the $26.9-million second phase of its $75-million fundingraising campaign titled Building Dreams and Futures.

The U of R has already raised more than $48 million, or 64 per cent of its goal, and will be seeking donations from private and corporate donors across the country to raise the rest. Campaign chair Garry Huntington told local media that the generosity so far “shows that people understand how a partnership with the University of Regina will help Saskatchewan people realize their dreams, and build a better future”.

Distribution of the campaign proceeds will include: $32 million for a new Centre for Kinesiology, Health and Sport; $7.5 million for student scholarships and bursaries; $7.5 million for research support, construction of a sound recording studio and a lab for engineering informatics; $23 million for facilities required to host the 2005 Canada Games; and $5 million for emerging priorities.
