VIDO gets chairs in food safety

Two new research chairs at the U of S Vaccine and Infectious Disease Organization (VIDO), funded by Bioniche Life Sciences Inc., have been set up to develop vaccines for fighting food-borne bacteria that can threaten human health.
Costing $4 million over five years, the chairs are funded by Bioniche through an NSERC program that promotes research partnerships between the private sector and universities. Recipients of the chairs, which were announced Oct. 15, are Andrew Potter, VIDO associate director of research, and Wolfgang Köster who is joining VIDO from the Swiss Federal Institute for Environmental Science and Technology.
