New home for Computer Science

New home for Computer Science

During a June 23 ceremony, U of S President Peter MacKinnon cuts the ribbon to officially open the refurbished new home of the Computer Science Department in the Thorvaldson Building, as outgoing department head Jim Greer, right, and incoming head Kevin Schneider hold the ribbon. For many years the department was spread across campus, and it's now in adjoining space in Thorvaldson and the Spinks Addition. MacKinnon said it's appropriate that Computer Science now resides in such a key, historic building, since the discipline is central to the success of the University's academic goals. The opening events included speeches, tours of the new space, and an outdoor reception.
